If what you want to do is write, what’s the problem with regular laptops, even mobile devices like tablets? Distractions, that’s what! To do some totally focused serious writing, without being distracted (or tempted!) by the usual Internet-enabled muck—email, social media, messages, articles, forums, videos, games, yada yada—you may want to set that laptop and/or mobile device aside. But what are you going to use to write with?
Here you go! I personally call these distraction-free writing laptops (I don’t think the industry has really figured out what to call them), and they essentially are “laptops” with a single purpose: to use for writing.
And they have full-size keyboards! They’re basically portable word processors. And since all they do is let you write and do word processing, they’re typically small, sturdy as all heck, and have battery lives that will make your jaw drop.
Yes, I have one—I’ve been banging one around for more than a decade, and it’s traveled with me literally around the world, fitting so easily in my standard shoulder bag/briefcase.
Here are some to check out. One of these is what I actually have and use!
