What a wonderful definition. Yes, many times I have been in that situation. My thought is that the definition has powered many romance scenes.
The spelling of the word itself is interesting. Remove the silent “h” and the word might be mistaken for one of the Hawaiian language. Similar pronunciation, except the last vowel would be pronounced separately.
I’m 100% positive the original word wasn’t spelled that way, or even used the same alphabet. hahahaha That there’s the euros just trying to sound it out. Speaking of which, it sounds very much like the local dialects here — notice, no long vowels, except for that last sound — which is particularly interesting since it’s practically on the other side of the planet from here.
What’s thought-provoking to me is it’s from a dead language spoken by the indigenous folks before the euros came and killed it, Tierra del Fuego’ing up the joint. It describes human behavior consistent across cultures, and it’s clearly timeless. We may all come from different times, speak different languages, live different lives and cultures, but we’re really still all freaking the same. Cool huh?
