Straight to the point:
Will the design — whatever that may be (Web, logo, identity, publication, packaging, etc.) — win awards and accolades? Probably not, unless you happen to be really pretty darn good at it. But it will do the job graphically, and very likely, functionally.When in doubt, keep it clean and simple.
Funny thing is that the untrained and inexperienced more often than not go the totally opposite way, regardless of medium. Go figure.
It’s not that busy, overly crowded and content packed designs can’t be made to look incredible, but it takes a certain amount of skill and experience (some even say luck) to pull off that kind of design effectively. Which is the main reason why I prefaced the principle above with “When in doubt…”
If you have little to no training or experience and don’t really have a natural eye for this sort of thing, best stick with clean and simple.
