EGAD #37 – Ask for Then Answer Questions
If you’re like me, you find it easier and faster to answer a question someone asks you versus having to come up with the question yourself first before answering it. I won’t bother going into the psychology behind this, but it’s interesting that most writers take the latter approach with their writing projects.
And many get bogged down, or even stuck before the project goes anywhere.

The idea here then is instead of essentially coming up with questions that need answering and mapping it all out in ebook form, ask your ebook’s target readers (e.g., blog readers, site visitors, etc.) to send you the questions they may have on your particular niche or special interest beforehand. Armed with those questions, you’ll find that the lot pretty much works out to be a ready-made outline for your ebook, and pumping out a finished product quickly will be likelier than not.
You won’t even need to worry much about how to organize the content — just list out the questions and answer them one-by-one, FAQ-style.
Promising free copies of your end product to those whose questions you select gets those questions flying at you. You’ll have enough to work with sooner than you think… maybe even enough for multiple products.
Use the list of questions (unanswered) in your promotional copy. That stuff really sells.

EGAD, this is good.
A version of answers to questions I get via email often end up as articles. Sometimes result in products.
Something similar can be done with interviews. Offer to do interviews that interviewers may use as content on their web sites (you get links back), provided you also have rights to publish it. After a dozen or so interviews, publish the collection in an ebook.
Maybe you’ve already covered that. I read each EGAD but might not remember all.

Ooo, I like that idea, William. A slight variation maybe would be to give a PDF of the interview to the interviewee for free distribution on their site, on top of the right to use the interview as raw content as you suggest. Of course, there’d be a linkback in the PDF to your site to get the full ebook with all the various interviews. Let’s now officially call this whole scheme EGAD #37.5. Thanks!
Cool. Glad you like it.
Your idea to give a PDF of the interview to the interviewer for distribution makes it complete. With Google and probably other search engines indexing PDFs, it makes getting the PDF linked to for download on other sites even more attractive.
I implemented a version of EGAD #37, last night:
http://www.willmaster.com/blog/tips/link-for-question.php
The ebook will be free. The “payment” for questions will be a link in the ebook, the right to distribute the ebook, and the ebook PDF file linked to on Willmaster.com (PR 5) for search engines to index and find the links.
Questions need to be of interest to web site owners.
