The Kindle Reading Experience
If you’re concerned about what the experience of reading a book would feel and be like on an Amazon Kindle, that was one of the things I was keen on finding out myself. Anyone who’s tried to “curl up” and read an ebook on a laptop knows full well what I mean when I say, “the tech gets in the way.” Never mind that you really can’t get comfy with a laptop physically (size, weight, balance, screen angle, etc.), the interface to navigate through the book leaves a lot to be desired.
As you can see from the image on the right, the Kindle requires us to “push buttons” to move through the book. And although the Kindle’s about the right size in total, the reading screen’s a tad smaller, and those keyboard buttons at the bottom look like they may get in the way of reading with no distractions.

Well, I can sum up my personal experience with the device in a single sentence:
Read a good book and the Kindle becomes invisible.
And I’m no seasoned Kindle user. I’m mostly still “thinking” my way through tasks and functions, so to speak. But even at this early stage, as I start getting into whatever it is I’m reading, the Kindle in essence disappears and gets out of the way. As many good tools do.
My take: Readers need not worry about the Kindle reading experience. Probably a good bet that the few competing reading devices that are starting to pop up will be likewise.
